Estate Agents Islington

Since the gentrification of recent decades Islington and its neighbouring areas of Highbury and Clerkenwell have been firmly established as some of London’s most vibrant and fashionable addresses.

The area has always attracted many of the Capital’s great and good with residents of bygone days such as Sir Walter Raleigh who lived close to our office on Upper Street and Sir Francis Bacon who lived in Canonbury Tower which had also previously been home to Benjamin Disraeli. More recent notable residents have included Edward Lear, George Orwell, Joe Orton and Benjamin Britten while Tony Blair is one of the best known modern day former residents. Now more than ever here is where many leaders in the creative, business and political fields like to call home.

Despite sustaining heavy bomb damage during the second world war, the area still retains a large number of beautiful garden squares and elegant period houses, many singularly occupied as family homes while others have been converted into characterful flats. These now include former warehouses, workshops and print works that have been given new life as homes on the City fringes.

Islington Local Features

Despite the elegance and grandeur of the gentrified architecture and the numerous independent boutique shops, cafes, bars, theatres, music venues and restaurants, Islington and its surrounds lack the pretention of other affluent parts of London and has an energy and atmosphere that is simply unique. To borrow Dr Samuel Johnson’s famous quote, “When a man is tired of Islington, he is tired of life; for there is in Islington all that life can afford."

Islington Transport Links

Attracted by the proximity to the City and West End, excellent cross London tube transport links on the Northern and Victoria lines together with national rail links via nearby Kings Cross, Euston and Farringdon stations as well as its easy access to Paris/Brussels through the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras.
